Can you believe there are only 24 shopping days left until Christmas and Kwanzaa? Chanuka is right around the corner! Whatever you celebrate, you’d better hurry up if you want to hit the stores because you’re running out of time, peeps. *shudder* The only stores I’m hitting this year are online since I have a major mall phobia and this weekend is the worst of the worst for me. We should arrange a sit-in where we do nothing but read, blog hop and comment on each other’s blogs. It could happen, right?
Okay, no, I’m sure some of you will still hit the stores. But I’m still going to give something away in honor of all of us with phobias (or common sense!) who avoid the insanity of the stores on Black Friday. In Brazil we do not have this Thanksgiving tradition, and only in the past 2 years some stores, mostly online, have started to celebrate Black Friday – but it is not the same as in the US and neither the prices tend to be so good =S

When I lived in the States, I think I went once to Wal-Mart on Black Friday. It was at night, and pretty much everything had been bought. It looked like a hurricane had hit it, lol.

I’ve never gone shopping on Black Friday that I can recall. I’ve never been one of those get all the holiday shopping done in a hurry, I usually wait until a week or so before Christmas.

This is the first year in many years I have not gone. I have always loved going out in the dark and stopping at my favorite coffee stand for a cuppa then getting in line and watching the folks go nuts. It is generally very entertaining and since I tend to be social when I do this I meet people from all over the place, which makes for great fun. Generally, it’s just online shopping for Black Friday. This year, we actually ventured out to dinner and a movie, which was great – not to crowded but a festive mood.

I’ve gone shopping on Black Friday. Not at 5 am or anything, just to check out any early afternoon deals.
I have went one time (just last year!) and I will never force myself to do that again. While it wasn’t what the news shows, it was pretty insufferable for me. I hated the crowds, lines, and greedy people. I much prefer to shop online or get it done well in advance.

No, I have never shopped on black friday.
I love shopping on Black Friday, getting up early in the morning with my daughter and joining all the other shoppers mapping out where we have to go and what we need to get and then going to breakfast afterwards is great. I live in a small town so people aren’t that rude or unruly. But this year they started at 8pm on Thursday and took all the fun out of it, so I waited until 11:30 when the stores were almost empty and still got all the deals that I wanted.
