Sunday Post (3)

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

It’s a chance to share news, recap events from the past week, showcase books and things we’ve received and share news about what’s coming up in the week ahead on our blog.

I feel really guilty because I was a lazy blogger this week. Thank goodness the ever-amazing Cait saved my bacon and delivered two great reviews or it would have been about five days of dead air.

Lucky in Love (Lucky Harbor #4) by Jill Shalvis – Cait gave this an A and convinced me Ineed to start this series. If you haven’t read Shalvis yet, Cait gives some great reasons to start.

Of Poseidon by Anna Banks – This received a C from Cait. Sort of a solid “meh,” with issues. If you’re on the fence, she’s got some good arguments.

Wolf Line (Granite Lake Wolves #5) by Vivian Arend – My sole contribution this week for reviews was for my beloved wolfies! I started this series before I started blogging and it’s always been a favorite. Arend is trying something different with it and I’m going to have to get used to it, but it still gets a B+ from me.

Other News:
We’ve joined Inkspell publishing as an Ambassador and will be having all sorts of cover reveals and ARC reviews with them through the rest of the year. There’s a great list of things to look forward to judging from the advance list I was given, starting on July 2nd, with the cover reveal for The Watcher by Lisa Voisin.

On July 24th, I’m going to interview Carrie Vaughn about her Kitty Norville series with Tor. Yep, I’m awfully nervous because I stink at coming up with questions and this is the Kitty Norville series. Eep! Make sure you come back and check out my dorkiness.

I know I’ve skipped our Indie Friday reviews two weeks in a row now. It ended up being semi-necessary. Despite having read a handful of indie/self-pub books, I just couldn’t find one I liked enough to review and I didn’t want to highlight one I couldn’t be positive about. There will be one this week with a little giveaway too!

Books I read:

Preservation by Rachael Wade (2 stars at Goodreads)
Wolf Line by Vivian Arend
The Duke’s Perfect Wife by Jennifer Ashley (loved this – highly recommend)
If the Slipper Fits by Olivia Drake (2 stars at Goodreads)
The Other Laura by Sheryl Lynn (4 stars at Goodreads – this is an older Harlequin Intrigue from 1996 that was recommended by Julia R. Barrett because I liked a similar older book - When There is Hope by Jane Goodger – and it was well worth it!)

Books I received:

Blink Once by Cylin Busby from NetGalley
Emotionally Charged by Selina Fenech (purchased)
Breath of Air by Katie Jennings (purchased)
If the Slipper Fits by Olivia Drake (purchased)

What’s coming up this week:

I’m going to be a complete pantser. No way I’m making plans or predictions because the last time I did, I missed the mark. I have to be flexible with the number of books I have, so flexible it is! I’ll have a Waiting on Wednesday, an Indie Friday review with a giveaway and I think next Sunday either Cait or I will do a Naughty Shelf review. Otherwise…stay tuned!
