Sunday Post (7)

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

It’s a chance to share news, recap events from the past week, showcase books and things we’ve received and share news about what’s coming up in the week ahead on our blog.

Welcome to a very unusual weekly wrap-up Sunday post for me. The weather has been really nice! We had rain twice this past week, wonderful thunderstorms (which I love and we needed so badly) and the temperature has mostly only been in the mid-90s. So it only feels like the apocalypse is next year instead of next month.

This was a pretty sedate week if you don’t count Tuesday, where I interviewed Carrie Vaughn about the newest book in her Kitty Norville series and some things in general. You can see why I stick to guest posts. Anyone who wants to send me their top 5 favorite questions to ask authors so I can create a file to have in my arsenal, I’d love you forever. I also reviewed Kitty Steals the Show, which is one of the best books in the series. I don’t know how she does it ten books in.

I also reviewed Heather Anastasiu’s Glitch then comforted myself with some chocolate. I could understand why it worked for some people but it was just not for me. My Indie Friday review was a cute little book called Dollars to Donuts that I thought was worth the $2.99 I spent.

I was planning on our usual You Ought to Know Indie wrap-up post yesterday where Cait and I give our favorite indie and self-published titles we’ve read this past month, but she’s got her in-laws in for the weekend and has had her hands full all week, so we’re going to do it this upcoming Saturday instead, along with a little editorial piece. I get all opinionated about things once in a while and even Cait can’t restrain me.

What fell into my Kindle or on my doorstep when I wasn’t looking this past week:

Dark Companion by Marta Acosta – purchased
Dust Girl by Sarah Zettel – purchased
The Girl Below by Bianca Zander – from Kara Lepard – #RAK

Ladle Rat Rotten Hut by Cameron Jace – Kindle Freebie
Timeless Desire by Gwyn Cready – from Publisher
Incarnation by Emma Cornwall – Publisher

Dollars to Donuts by Kathleen Kole – purchased
Breaking Even by Katheen Kole – purchased

Coming up this week: I’ll whine about the weather some more. I picked out a Waiting on Wednesday book that continues to prove how bloodthirsty I can be (or how awesome some of the fall books are, which is more likely). I have a very cool sci-fi cover reveal and giveaway on Monday, reviews of The Life and Death of Lily Drake by T. Michelle Nelson and Innocent Darkness by Suzanne Lazear expected for Tuesday and Thursday and on Friday, we’ll have some Indie madness. A review, a guest post with some audience participation and a great giveaway. I’d better eat my Wheaties.

So what’s been happening with you this past week? Leave a link in the comments to your Sunday post or your mailbox list and I’ll stop by.
